Emily's Super Sneak Peeks

Emily's Rock the Frock Super Sneak Peeks

I'm only showing a FEW peeks from each session before all the sessions are done. I plan (and hope) to have a full sneak peek preview of each session done in time to show them at Art & Ale on Feb. 6, 2012 at The Flying Shamrock in Downtown Goldsboro. I just HAVE to share a few randomly selected shots before then though, or my finalists (and fans) may die of anxiety attacks!

Emily's American Classic Rock the Frock Super Sneak Peeks!

I blogged earlier today about all the elements for Emily's session--from the classic styling to the classic Dodge truck which, along with the scenery at Steven's Mill,  gave way to the name American Classic for Emily Reaves' Rock the Frock Session. That combination of truck and location plus her classic beauty and styling, from the peeptoe pumps to the red peacoat made for a perfect set up for this classic wife and mother to ROCK!  Here are a few of the images from her session!

Emily loves tulips so when Cheryl's Floral Designs offered to let us borrow this little white clutch bouquet I knew it would be perfect for her shoot!

The All-American scenery at Steven's Mill made a perfect backdrop for this classic All-American girl!

Emily really wanted cool sunset shots! The light faded faster than I expected at our original location so we chased down the sunset and Emily rocked her frock in the middle of the road to get these!

Thanks to Mr. Jerry Reaves for letting us borrow his much loved Dodge pick up for our shoot!

The lighting was sometimes a little funky, but it LOVED Emily's hair!

Keep on Rockin'

Today I've got beautiful natural scenery, a classic pickup and a tall, beautiful brunette for my Rock the Frock session. Emily is using a restored classic pick up truck that belongs to her husband's grandfather for her session at an old mill site here in Wayne County. The property owners were very kind in allowing us use of the space for her shoot, and I can't wait to blend her fabulous, unique wedding gown with the beautiful scenery and that cool old truck! Her classic styling, (which includes peep-toe shoes!) will be a great contrast to the simple country setting and bright red pick up!

Amanda's Rock the Frock Super Sneak Peeks

I'm only showing a FEW peeks from each session before all the sessions are done. I plan (and hope) to have a full sneak peek preview of each session done in time to show them at Art & Ale on Feb. 6, 2012 at The Flying Shamrock in Downtown Goldsboro.  I just HAVE to share a few randomly selected shots before then though, or my finalists (and fans) may die of anxiety attacks!

Amanda's Rock the Frock Super Sneak Peeks!

I blogged yesterday about prepping for Amanda's Family Fun Day Session with her husband (who is a man of much patience, I have to say) and 2 year old twins (who are even cuter than I remember). Here are a few of the images from their session!

What? You don't sit on a straw bale couch and eat popcorn in the woods with your kids and Hello Kitty? Well, then you my friend, have life ALL WRONG!!!

Cupcakes, candy, and kids are always a fun (and messy) day!

What's a little icing smeared all over a Reem Acra gown, when you are one hot mama!!?!?

Jedi Masters.......'nuf said!

Now THAT Frock has been Rocked!!

Sounds like I have everything I need to Rock the Frock with Amanda!

Amanda's kids are her LIFE. There are few children in this world who were wanted as much as Payton and Sawyer were and Amanda and her husband love those kids to bits. I've only met Amanda once, (she is an old friend of my dear friend and cousin Kim), but we have a TON of things in common, so planning her session was a lot of fun. She loves cupcakes and Hello Kitty, plus her hubby is a Star Wars fan, and they wanted to involve the kids no matter what so their Family Funday session came together quite easily. I admire Amanda's dedication, she is a full time college student and amazing wife & mommy and was willing to pack up twin two year olds and drive an hour and a half for her Rock the Frock shoot! I can't WAIT to share the photos!

Congrats to the Rock the Frock Finalists!

Congratulations to the 2012 Rock the Frock Finalists---Amanda Penland, Brenda Thornton, Kandace Best and Emily Reaves!!

I know, I know, there are supposed to be THREE finalists, but this year, even with over 2100 votes cast, the voting ended in a TIE for 3rd place between Kandace and Emily. I offered the public the chance to sound off with their opinions online, and by overwhelming majority they chose to have the contest end in a tie, instead of a run off between 4 contestants who were extremely close in votes.

We are hard at work planning their sessions, and these girls are coming up with some really creative ideas! Our styling sponsors have offered up fantastic props, locations, hair and make up services, accessories, jewelry, decor, etc. for these girls to help them ROCK their shoots. With everything from fire trucks to cupcakes and horses to twin toddlers, these girls are really bringing it!

Our styling sponsors include:

Rock the Frock 2012

ROCK THE FROCK 2012

Rock the Frock is an annual contest, hosted by R. Scott Reynolds Arts Photography & Design Studio. It was created in 2010 to give women the chance to rock their wedding frock one more time. Many women do not have bridal portraits, for whatever reason, and many got married when traditional photos dominated the scene and would like to have something more fun and contemporary now. Participants compete for votes online and the top 3 finalists win a free photo shoot along with prizes donated by local businesses and artists. The overall winner, determined by a panel of judges, will be featured on the cover of Down Home Magazine. (See photos from last year's Rock the Frock shoots on the RSRA website.)

The contest is free to enter and gives regular girls a chance to do a fun, creative photo shoot, wearing their wedding gown. The past winners include a teacher and a nurse and participants include college students, stay at home moms, bartenders, journalists, sales consultants and members of the military. Rock the Frock is open to any woman who has been married (even if you are now divorced...helloooo Trash the Dress session!!), can still wear her wedding gown and can do a photo shoot in the required time frame. Women of all ages are eligible to enter the contest. Even though a majority of contestants are newlyweds, many women enter to celebrate a milestone anniversary or just because they can still fit in their dress after many years! One of last year's finalists had been married almost 10 years!

Entries are accepted from 8am on Sunday January 8 until 6pm on Wednesday, January 11. Email your photo (in jpeg format) and your name, wedding date and a few lines about yourself, why you entered and any ideas or locations you have in mind for your shoot.

Online voting will be done on the RSRA website under Rock the Frock (www.rsraphoto.com/rockthefrock) Voting begins on Thursday, January 12 at 10am and ends on Sunday, January 15 at midnight. Finalists will be announced on Monday, January 16.

The contest is featured in Down Home Magazine annually, with the winner being featured on the cover of the Bridal & Prom Issue and an article about the contestants with photos from their shoots.

Blogging to you LIVE from my new Mac!

One of my 2012 resolutions was to blog weekly (not daily after my cookie flop) so hopefully this becomes a habit! I hope to share my photography with people outside of Facebook in 2012 and to let my clients, friends and fans learn more about me, my style and why I love what I do so much!

2011 was a crazy year. With the addition of an Etsy store selling scarves, banners, and other items at RSRA Design (the art and design side of the business), R. Scott Reynolds Arts grew established enough that art became my full time job, I started teaching photography classes on a more regular basis, and the studio family has grown for another year.

I'm starting off 2012 with some much needed vacation days, an awesome new Mac and my
Rock the Frock Contest, which I look forward to a little bit more every year. That is a great start, no doubt, but what I am most excited about is the news that RSRA will be moving! I have purchased a new home and will be moving my art and design studios there, when I move in. Hopefully this will happen with a month or two, but who knows!?! Don't worry, I'm not going far, just from the top of the hill to the bottom of the hill!! I'm very excited, since this will mean a whole new look for my studio, a separate design studio, and lots of opportunities for RSRA Design Parties, Photo Classes and maybe event some other types of art classes (oh and a whole lot more room all the way around WWOOOOOHHHOOOOOOOO!!!)

Thank you all so much for your support and letting me be a part of your lives!

Happy 2012 Everyone!
